Pressbooks

Pressbooks has partnered with Western Sydney University to offer you a hosted, education-specific version of the Pressbooks’ publishing platform we call Western Open Books. Here, authors can adapt, clone, revise, remix, and redistribute openly licensed material, enrich their content with videos, audio recordings, and incorporate interactive elements using Pressbook’s H5P plugin. When published, these open texts are made available via the Western Open Books Catalogue and may also be listed in the global Pressbooks Directory.

Pressbooks Directory

The Pressbooks Directory provides access to open texts published under an open Creative Commons licence for adaptation and reuse. There are over 2,000 full-text books published by more than 100 global institutions. These texts may be original or adapted from other open textbooks and can be viewed online as a webbook or exported into an eBook (EPUB format), PDF and a number of other formats.

Western Open Books

Western Open Books is a publishing service dedicated to supporting WSU academic authors in creating and publishing high-quality open texts. These resources are provided at no cost to students and are designed for use in curricula or microcredentials. Additionally, Western Open Books produces free, openly accessible texts that align with and advance the University’s Sustainable Development Goals.
